'Terranova' Graduate Collection by Izzy Du
@zaxarovcom
Jan 26, 2023

Izzy Du, the young Chinese-Canadian designer based in London, is making waves in the fashion world with her gravity-defying approach to design.

Fresh off her graduation from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Du is already showcasing her unique vision with her 2021 collection, "Terranova."

Du's designs are characterized by organic shapes and 3D printed accessories, as well as a focus on nature-inspired textures. Her goal is to create silhouettes that defy gravity and challenge the traditional notions of how a garment should sit on the body.

Du's collection is also marked by her use of 3D printing, which she has been experimenting with since her first collection. She starts with designs on paper and then renders them digitally with the help of artist Peter Donders, before they are printed in a factory. This process allows her to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that are both technical and complicated.

In addition to her focus on form and texture, Du's collection is also marked by her use of color and her love of the natural world. She is inspired by the colors of the sky and space and aims to create designs that can tangibly preserve a moment in physical form.

With her impressive graduate collection as a prelude, Du is now ready to showcase the future of her eponymous label, IZZY DU. Du's graduate collection sets the foundation of her design direction and aesthetic, and it's exciting to see what she will produce next. Her collection "Terranova" is an example of how fashion can transcend the boundaries of traditional design, and it's a collection that will be remembered for its innovation and creativity.
