Naoya Kitamura has designed a minimal and open-plan family house in a quiet street in the province of Aichi, Japan.

The site is located on a quiet street a block away from the main road. From the exterior the building seems more industrial than welcoming; clad in corrugated iron it shimmers against the surrounding suburbia. Completed in a light wood with metal finishes, the space is bright and open with areas delineated by a series of wooden pillars. The flexible floor plan was designed to ensure that the home could change according to the needs of a growing family.
