Studio Tropicana transforms Italian hay barn into minimalist oasis - 009_Blue Bird Kitchen.

Studio Tropicana, a dynamic architectural venture bridging the landscapes of Italy and Switzerland. Spearheaded by visionary Martina Palocci in 2020, Studio Tropicana embraces an ethos of transcending boundaries and crafting unparalleled architectural marvels. Palocci's aspiration to foster positive societal impact through exquisite, functional, and sustainable spaces forms the bedrock of the studio's philosophy.

Harnessing an eclectic blend of influences spanning space, art, cinema, and design, Studio Tropicana crafts futuristic designs through an intricate interplay of multidisciplinary inspirations. Palocci eloquently describes this creative process as an "osmotic continuum" between diverse disciplines, culminating in symphonies of architectural timelessness.

A testament to Studio Tropicana's prowess, the 009_Blue Bird Kitchen (BBK) project emerges as an exceptional residential accomplishment. Situated near Varese's heart in Italy, BBK signifies the studio's inaugural venture into substantial residential design. Envisioned for a home-based blogger and creative director, the residence graces tranquil suburbs that seamlessly meld with the pastoral backdrop. The structure, once a rustic hay barn, underwent a profound metamorphosis, initiated by the architects' mandate to transform the client's daily surroundings and incorporate a versatile studio and workshop conducive to their professional pursuits.

Channeling the existing architectural context, Studio Tropicana ingeniously intertwines contemporary aesthetics with the structure's original essence. Distinctive geometric forms inject a modern panache, harmonizing with the preexisting outlines. Internally, the space remains unconfined and fluid, adorned with materials characterized by their modern sharpness. The interplay of white aggregate cement flooring and meticulously positioned white-painted OSB wood buffer panels amidst the roof beams augments the minimalist ambiance.

Embedded within the design philosophy is the concept of refined 'simplicity.' The team elucidates, "[We initiate] with the notion that elegance often lies in simplicity, and remarkably, this attribute confers a timeless quality." Studio Tropicana has orchestrated a symphony of design that defies ephemeral trends, crafting a space that resonates with profound authenticity.
