Pier Chair by Leonard Kadid

Nov 4, 2020

Inspired by the iconic Santa Monica Pier and made entirely from solid oak, this chair is designed by Leonard Kadid for Resident to stand the test of time.

Both the Pier Chair and Stool are composed using only mortise and tenon joints - a structural principle that can be found in classical Japanese architecture, allowing the wood fibres to run continuously throughout, gifting the piece sustained durability.

Utilising Residents technical innovation and manufacturing expertise, the solid oak seat and backrest are precisely carved using a CNC milling machine, offering the user a comfortable sitting position.

“The essential presence of the Pier items aims to make them timeless pieces of furniture that will fit into any kind of architecture” explains Leonard.
