Berlin-based Taiwanese design duo Yellow Nose Studio presents INDERGARTEN, a collection that blurs the lines between design, craft, and art.
Drawing inspiration from childhood imagination and the philosophy of Friedrich Fröbel, who established the first kindergarten in 1840, the series reimagines simple wooden shapes—circle, square, and rectangle—into functional objects that invite interaction and contemplation.
The collection includes seating objects and vases, each handcrafted in Berlin from beech, cedar, and pine. The design process emphasizes the beauty of imperfection, with each piece bearing the marks of its creation, reflecting a commitment to slow living and the appreciation of everyday objects.
In collaboration with METER Books, Yellow Nose Studio has also released a monographic publication that delves deeper into the collection. The book, featuring photography by Daniel Farò and design by HelloMe, showcases the interplay of form and material in the INDERGARTEN series, offering insight into the studio's creative process and philosophy.
Founded in 2017 by Hsin-Ying Ho and Kai-Ming Tung, Yellow Nose Studio continually seeks balance within space through handmade objects. Working with raw, organic materials, they reinterpret forms usually considered inorganic, guiding their craft with emotional logic while engaging with principles of industrial design. The studio’s work embodies slow living, producing functional tools that encourage awareness, reflection, and appreciation of the spaces we inhabit daily.
