Fire Station Sand in Taufers by Pedevilla Architects

Dec 16, 2020

Italian Studio Pedevilla Architects had focused on straight functionality, when creating Fire Station in Taufers.

The building is characterized by clear and simple shapes, where redundant ornaments were deliberately omitted. However its evident golden yellow appearance gives the whole structure a playful and surprising attribute. "Sand in Taufers is known as an energy saving municipality and for this reason spends a lot on sustainable politics for environment and climate. Therefore also the fire station has to be an high level energy building; that's why the facades are isolated before being covered with a gritty plaster,” explained the architects.

The central room of the ground floor hosts a vehicle hall, which is a space for the rescue vehicles. It is directly connected to the street, where is a big training space and enough parking. The other special rooms, such as control room, equipment rooms and fuel room are also located on the ground floor. The upper floor of the building features rooms dedicated to paper works and to rest one’s head, such as office, sleeping or sanitary room. Below the ground, there is a basement, where more space for storage is hidden.
